Built on a hill approximately 10km outside Kampala,
Vienna College benefits from a purpose built campus
on the fringe of Namugongo.
The classrooms are of modern design, well equipped
and light and airy. A computer laboratory enables
classes of over twenty students to experience
compulsory Information Technology courses in S1
and S2 and go on to public examinations in Computer
related subjects beyond that stage.
Science is taught in specialist laboratories
for biology, chemistry and physics and art also
has its own teaching facilities.
Three nutritious meals are taken in the dining
hall and to supplement the balanced diet snacks
are available from an on-site canteen.
The students are housed in separate accommodation
blocks for girls and boys and the living accommodation
comprises dormitories, shower blocks, toilets
and washing areas. The students are expected to
do their own housework and keep the residential
areas clean and tidy. Leisure facilities, including
a common room and television, are located in each
of the boys’ and girls’ living areas.
The Domestic Staff (Senior Men and Senior Ladies),
live on site with their families alongside the
residential students and operate as a pastoral
team supporting the overall welfare and disposition
of each student.
The games field allows the playing of football
and rugby and the basketball court is also well
used, every day. Aerobics, table tennis and badminton
are provided in the main assembly hall which is
used for meetings, school assembly and examinations
as well.
The nearby Linda Country Club provides swimming
facilities for the students and Vienna uses the
swimming pool a minimum of four times a week,
including weekends.
Administration is carried out in a suite of offices
housing the Headmaster, Bursar, Accountant, Deputy
Headmaster and School Secretaries.
